This is shaping up to be a very busy arboviral season. We have 3 more EEE positive mosquito pools to report. Two were collected from Whiting from the same swamp as before. One was from a swamp in Sudbury. This is the first time this year we’ve found the virus outside of the swamp in Whiting. This should continue to serve as a reminder that EEE is present in the area and everyone should take precautions to prevent mosquito bites.
In addition, there were more WNV positive mosquitoes detected in both Whiting and Pittsford from locations with previous positives.
We are still keeping the risk level in your area at “moderate”, but if we continue to see EEE activity outside of the one swamp in Whiting, we might need to raise it to “high”.
Have a nice weekend. But don’t forget to use the bug spray.
