Information About Upcoming Public Service Board Meeting

Hi everyone,

Barb Wilson of the Vermont Citizens for the Public Good asked me to send this letter from her to all of you concerned Cornwall folks:
Good evening!
The Public Service Board (PSB) will be holding a public hearing regarding the pipeline in Middlebury on Sept 10th at 7 PM:
Location:  Gymnasium at the Middlebury Union Middle School, 48 Deerfield Land, Middlebury, VT.
We need to make sure the PSB knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Vermonters don’t want to see it built.  It is therefore critical that we join forces with our fellow Vermonters to demonstrate our opposition to the Fracked Gas Pipeline by attending the hearing.  Through the combined efforts of VPIRG, Rising Tide, 350 Vermont, VT Citizens for the Public Good and others, it is our goal to get as many folks there as possible.  Could you image 500 or even 1,000 concerned Vermonters showing up!  The best way for us to stop phase 2 is to stop phase 1.  Besides, phase 1 has many of the same issues as does phase 2.
As you’ve read from my emails last week, several phonebank sessions are taking place to get commitments from folks to attend the hearing.  Several of you may have already been called.  Since time is of the essence, it would be much more efficient if you could just respond to this email, over the next day or so, letting us know if you can attend.  This would save many hours of volunteer canvasser time trying to link up with each of you over the phone.  If you have already spoken to a canvasser about your ability to attend, you don’t need to respond to this email.
Please include the following information as part of your email response:

  • I will attend (yes or no)
  • Include the number of folks who will be coming with you (including yourself)
  • I would like to testify (yes or no)

We’ll also be having a rally beforehand, and a few other events earlier in the day to really drive home for the Board that we don’t want this pipeline.  The rally will be held at the same location as the hearing starting at 6 PM.  If you’d like to participate in one of the events that will be happening earlier in the day, just let me know and we’ll let you know what will be happening when and where.
Also, for those of you willing to testify at the hearing, we’ll be conducting a workshop to help folks with their testimony.  Testimonies will be short in duration (e.g., 1 to 2 minutes at most).  The actual duration is based on the number of folks that have signed up to speak.
If you haven’t done so already, please go online and sign Anna’s petition to Gov. Shumlin.  The goal is to have at least 500 signatures by Sept 10th.  The link is provided below:

Thanks for your support! Barb
