I apologize for not sending you an update last week. There were some issues with some of the lab results from last week’s testing and it took until today to sort out. So final results from the samples tested last week had just one WNV positive mosquito pool from Whiting.
I hear there are reports of frost out there which is good news. However, we would like to see temps dip below 28 degrees for 2 hours over a large area before we can declare this arbovirus season over. The cool weather in the evenings and mornings certainly slow the mosquitoes down, but we are still finding enough out there to trap and test.
We plan on trapping one more week for sure and possibly longer if warm weather recurs.
The end is in sight. Thank you for your help this season.
