The 26th Annual Middlebury Area Christmas Bird Count will be held on Sunday, December 14th. This is one of over 1800 counts held throughout Central and North America. The Middlebury Count is an attempt to count all the birds within a 15-mile-diameter circle centered on the Lemon Fair near the Cornwall-Bridport border. The circle covers from the A & W Root Beer stand on Route 7 on the east to New York State on the west and from Snake Mt. on the north to Richville Dam on the south. They are looking for are people with active bird feeders within that circle to check their feeders occasionally on that Sunday (the 14th) and report what they see.
If you are interested in helping, send an email to Jim Andrews at email@example.com and he will send you directions and a tally sheet. For some background information on area counts or to see maps of the count circles you can visit the Otter Creek Audubon Society website.
