Green Up Day

As is becoming an annual tradition, the Cornwall Conservation Commission will be cleaning up the Cornwall Swamp parking lot at the Otter Creek access on Swamp Road.

Help us clean up a key access point to the Cornwall Swamp! The Cornwall Swamp is part of the largest and most biologically diverse swamp complex in New England and it needs us humans to help keep it free of trash. On Saturday, May 4th, at 10:00 a.m., the Cornwall Conservation Commission will be cleaning up trash and debris, and possibly some larger items, in the parking area on Swamp Road, just before the bridge. We hope to be finished with the parking area cleanup by noon on Green Up Day, if not earlier.

Wear sturdy gloves, durable long pants, and waterproof boots and bring some Green Up bags. In past years, we had enough people to make short work of the parking lot area, so some of us moved onto cleaning up Swamp Road. Therefore, highly visible clothing is recommended. The Conservation Commission will supply extra Green Up green bags, drinking water and yummy snacks. The event will take place rain or shine.
