The primary responsibility of the Cornwall Town Listers is to maintain the Town’s Grand List — the appraised value of all real estate property in the town. Your listers are also responsible for maintaining lists of State Current Use Program enrollment, homestead declarations, house-site values, statutory and Town-voted tax exemptions, and Town maps with property IDs and boundaries.

2024 Reassessment Process
We use State-mandated valuation tables and computer-assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) software based on data collected from Cornwall sales history for the three years prior to the last Town-wide appraisal, which was in 2009. Cornwall listers will continue to use the 2009 database in our property inspections for the coming 2024-25 tax year. At the same time, every Cornwall property owner can expect a visit from a NEMRC representative during this year as they build a new database that will go into effect beginning of Fall 2025. Please contact us if you have any questions about the reappraisal process or property visits.
