In Vermont, we make it easy for you to vote. Voting starts as soon as ballots are available — not later than 45 days before the primary or general election, and 20 days prior to a municipal election that uses the Australian ballot.
Request your ballot:
- Online
- Paper Form
- Email townclerk@cornwallvt.org
- Call us at (802) 462-277
State Law requires that only the voter can take their own ballot out of the Town Office. You can vote in the Office or it can be mailed to you. Family members may submit a request for an absentee ballot on your behalf, but they cannot pick up the ballot on your behalf.
If you have any questions about early or absentee voting, please contact us via email or (802) 462-2775. If you need additional assistance, you can email the Elections Division at sos.elections@vermont.gov, or call 800-439-VOTE.
Deadlines:
All early voter absentee ballot requests in Cornwall must be submitted by 4:00pm on the day before the election. In order to be counted, all ballots must be returned to the town clerk’s office before the close of the office on the day before the election, or to the polling place before 7:00 PM on the day of the election.
2024 General Election Ballots

Military or overseas voters may also request an absentee ballot by telephone, fax, email or by mail. You may also request that the unvoted ballot and certificate for return envelope be sent to you by email, fax or mail. Under Vermont law, voted ballots must be returned to the town clerk inside the absentee certificate envelope (with the voter’s original signature) and voted ballots may NOT be returned by fax or email.
