Meeting Minutes

The Town of Cornwall Select Board is responsible for the general supervision of the affairs of the town and “shall cause to be performed all duties required of the town not committed by law to the care of any particular officer.” (24 V.S.A. § 872), including calling town meetings, calling elections, appointing employees, setting certain fees, overseeing certain volunteer and appointed bodies, and creating basic regulations.

The Select Board meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month during the Winter, Spring, and Fall and only on the first Tuesday during the Summer. The Select Board Secretary takes thorough and accurate minutes at every meeting which are posted on the Town website along with writing a report that is included in the annual Town Report.

These tasks are addressed at every meeting:

  • Approving minutes of the previous meeting(s)
  • Reviewing and signing General Fund and Highway Orders (invoices related to Town operations)
  • Reviewing the Town's reconciled bank statement (monthly)
  • Reviewing correspondence
  • Hearing public comments (in person or via Zoom)
  • Receiving reports from the Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, Road Commissioner, and Road Foreman

Our periodic tasks include:

  • Making appointments to open positions on Town commissions and boards
  • Reviewing bids and executing agreements for services, including mowing, Sheriff patrols, paving, and tree removal
  • Reviewing requests for caterer's permits
  • Holding joint meetings with other Town committees and officers
